Hi, I'm Celeste Sigmund, the artist behind Raven Hart Designs. When I was a little girl I spent much of my childhood with my grandmother. She taught me many things during my youth, but most of all she nurtured and inspired the artist in me.
We are all familiar with "Life Happens" so for many of my adult years the artist in me stayed buried. But now that I am retired and life moves just a little bit slower, I am able to focus again on my inner artist. In 2014 my love for nature and my need to get back to a simpler way of life took me to the northwoods of Minnesota. My husband and I now live on 16 beautiful acres in a little log cabin sitting right on the banks of the Baptism River. It's my "paradise found" and has once again awakened the artist in me.
My work is diverse over several mediums. I am a metalsmith, working with Sterling Silver, Copper, Bronze and Stainless Steel. I work with polymer clay creating one of kind pieces of art with a purpose, ie. embellished journals, trinket boxes, bottles and wine glasses. I have recently been dabbling in lapidary, cutting and shaping my own stones to use in my jewelry and doing some work with fused glass as well. Lastly, I am obsessed with seed bead embroidery! I love it all!
When creating a piece, I take my inspiration from nature, the occult (there is a little witch in all of us) and unique antiquities. Although I identify as a jewelry designer, I always leave my options open to explore where ever the magick will lead me.
As I eluded to above, my grandmother was a great influence in my life. Though she left this earth too soon, she still inspires me and is always by my side. The name "Raven Hart Designs" combines my love for Ravens, a truly extraordinary bird and my love for my grandmother, "Mary Olive Gertrude Hart", a truly extraordinary woman. I would not be who I am today without her inspiration and guidance through my childhood years.
