About Us

     The Mountain Shop which is located within the historic Scandinavian chalet  has been in operation since the early 1950s.    The Lutsen Mountains Resort is the largest ski area in the Midwest and both the Mountain Shop and the ski area generate a substantial year-round business.    

     Since 1980, the Mountain Shop and the Lutsen Mountains ski area have operated under the ownership of the same family.  In May of 1997, the shop and the ski area split into separate legal corporations.  Bill and Mary Junnila are now the legal owners of the Mountain Shop.  Mary Junnila oversees all aspects of the shop’s management, buying and its finances.  Cathy Everett is the Manager/Buyer and Celeste Sigmund is the Assistant Manager/Buyer.  

     The Mountain Shop carries a large selection of brand name outdoor and base layer ski and snowboard apparel, and accessories.  We carry t-shirts, sweatshirts, outdoor apparel, hats, stickers, magnets, patches, glassware and gifts  with our Lutsen Logo.  We are also proud to support our local artists by carrying a small collection by each artist and making it available to you for purchase through our shop.

Our Mission here at the Mountain Shop is to be welcoming to all of our visitors and to help them enjoy the area in all seasons.
