Kristy lives with her husband and four children in Southern Minnesota. She has worked with children for many years and has a background in early childhood education.
After the loss of her mom, her passion for supporting others through grief became evident. Sometimes big moments in life require us to pivot...
Kristy is the spearhead of her family’s heart forward bluebird house business “Rudolph’s Bluebird Houses” which they built around giving back and to create community and support surrounding grief after the loss of Kristy’s mother to cancer in 2018. Seeing the way her father was using his hands to help heal his heart by building homes for her mother’s favorite bird, she had the idea to connect his houses to the community and they are now helping thousands of other families work through their grief. The bluebird carries the universal symbol of joy and happiness along with it and has became an emblem of hope for their family through their loss. It reminds us that grief is a process and it can be a little less isolating when we help each other through it.
Rise Up, Little Bluebirds illustrates the normal emotions that are experienced when grieving the loss of a loved one. We witness the way death impacts a family as we follow the journey of a beloved bluebird family on their visits with others impacted by the loss of grandma bluebird. They honor their continued love for her by visiting the places that still hold significance and memory as they help to bring hearts together through the loss they all experienced. We softly realize throughout the story that finding ways to remember your loved one together is also the best way to heal together and that although grandma bluebird may be gone from our nest, she’ll never be gone from our hearts. It’s a beautiful story of loss and community and is sure to be a special opportunity for parents and educators alike to help children see grief through a lens of hope.
“I hope that the message of hope in “Rise Up, Little Bluebirds” will resonate with children and adults alike while delivering a compelling message in today’s uncertain times that though we may be separated from the ones we care for, love is the unending connection that binds us all.”
Through her family’s philanthropic outreach she has truly found her calling and it couldn’t be more evident in the beautiful message within “Rise Up, Little Bluebirds.”
