Brian Hong is a Minnesota native who creates beautiful cheese and meet boards out of hand chiseled granite!
H. Brian Hong grew up spending Summers at his family land on the Brule River, in Hovland, MN. During these times he grew to love and respect the power of the great lake and the massive stones that lined its shoreline. During the height of the Covid pandemic in 2020, he and his wife decided to take the love and respect they each had for nature, and specifically for stone, and turn it into a company that produces items made from reclaimed and repurposed stone. That company is now called The Gathering Stones. They began with small round meat and cheese stones, but quickly turned their talents into making larger and more extravagant Charcuterie Stones, Wedding Cake Stands, and other useful and purposeful items. Each Gathering Stone starts with a base stone, which is selected from various vendors in the MidWest and then transported to their studio in Elko New Market, MN. Brian works very carefully with hammer, chisel, and bare hand to shape and sculpt each stone into a new and dramatic piece. No two Gathering Stones are the same, each is absolutely unique and a treasure that hopefully will be cherished for many years and used at many future gatherings. Now their work can be found at select locations in the Mid-West.
